SiSu® Dance Training
“It is with your feet that you move…But is with your heart that you Dance.”
There is a unique world we live in as a dancer. Dancing and feeling the movement brings much joy and harmony in many personal ways. There is yet another world we live in as a Dance Educator. We must continue to grow in training and education in many aspects. Just because one can dance does not mean one can teach as well! My 33 years of teaching all ages have shown me that one will always teach someone something new but I will always continue to learn something new myself!
I offer private lessons and master classes/workshops as a Guest Master Teacher. I also provide choreography for Solo’s, Duo/Trio Pieces, Group Pieces, and Productions.

Cecchetti
The Cecchetti Method of classical ballet training offers a completely balanced and analyzed system of theory, control, strength, and execution. Cecchetti-trained dancers can prepare to advance from the very first class to the professional theatrical level performer.
Cecchetti training is a rigorous method that pays careful attention to the scientific laws of anatomy. It develops all of the qualities essential to the dancer: balance, poise, strength, elevation, elasticity, Ballonné, etc. It is classic in its purity and clear-cut style.
Acrobatic Arts
The curriculum is designed to safely train all dancers from their very first bridge and cartwheel, all the way up to aerials and back tucks. All of this is done through simple yet thoughtful progressions. With each acrobatic mastery, another aspect can be added to increase the level of difficulty.
Dancers gain strength, flexibility, artistry, and confidence for their performance with Acrobatic classes.
Megan is certified in the Acrobatic Arts Program.
Acrobatic Arts curriculum is designed to introduce:
- Physical literacy
- Coordination and strength
- Creative movement
- Basic Acrobatic skills
Cross Conditioning
What is Cross Conditioning at SiSu®?
Cross Conditioning encompasses the entire development of the dancer. Several aspects are needed to improve the physical performance of a dancer such as strength, speed, agility, endurance, stability, and flexibility. At SiSu Dance Academy we incorporate several exceptional programs and exercises to train the dancer methodically and safely:
- Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) is an innovative international program for students who understand the depth of training muscle memory in achieving their personal best in classical ballet.
- Safe Flexibility training enhances the lines of a dancer. Stretching your muscles and joints also leads to a greater range of motion, improved balance, and an all-around healthy body.
- Resistance and strength training is given to dancers through obstacle courses in the studio.
- Coordination skills are developed with jump ropes, ladders, plyometric steps, BOSU balls, rotator discs, TheraBand resistance bands, and foam rollers.
The multiple benefits of Cross Conditioning include helping our dancers learn to prevent injuries or enhance rehabilitation by boosting strength and flexibility. Our extensive training and certifications speak to SiSu's solemn commitment to delivering safe training and practices in all our dance disciplines.
Fasciability Training
FASCIA RELEASE + FLEXIBILITY = FASCIABILITY
The SiSu®-created Fasciability Specialized Training Program is a hybrid technique that was specifically designed to bring flexibility to a dancer's body.
Fascia is the biological fabric that holds us together; it is the connective tissue network. It plays a major role in every move a dancer makes. Fascia surrounds the tendons, ligaments, bursae, and all the tissue in and around the muscles. When Fascia becomes stuck together, it restricts blood flow and oxygen throughout the network, resulting in the body feeling restricted throughout.
Flexibility is the ability of the joints, or a group of joints and muscles, to move through a range of motion effectively unrestricted and pain-free. Dancers require a wide range of flexibility, but the process of achieving it needs to be executed safely and intentionally. Any seasoned dancer will tell you that this is hard to attain but of utmost importance!
Our Director has created a unique practice routine that combines fascia release with safe flexibility exercises, thus resulting in a much more mobile dancer. This method is based on the homogenous techniques from Yoga Tune Up® and Alixa Flexibility. Our Director has taken several courses with Yoga Tune Up® and is certified in Levels 1-4 with Alixa Flexibility.
Mobility tools, along with exercises for flexibility and fitness, are used to enhance the dancer's athletic and movement capabilities. You will experience this method of teaching in SiSu's Acro, Jazz, and Cross Conditioning courses in particular. The director believes this training is vital for any dancer wanting to protect themselves from injury while increasing their range of motion without risk of pain and undue damage.
Children's Program
Megan trained in the Leap N Learn program and LNL was a huge part of her academy. Megan designed her children’s program to coincide with her upper program. Megan’s children’s program taught students to dance at their current level of mental, physical, emotional, and cognitive development. It gives children a strong foundation in dance while keeping the movement on a child’s level so that they are always having fun and mastering new skills.
An instrumental component of the curriculum is continuous cross-body movements performed throughout each class. When children do cross-body movements the two sides of the brain are forced to communicate; this strengthens the pathways that link both sides of the brain through the corpus callosum. This helps with developmental growth that goes far beyond our academy walls and transfers to overall development.
Megan’s Children's Program focuses on:
- Physical space and how we relate to it as an individual and a group member
- Locomotor and non-locomotor movements
- Musical awareness
- Opposites, directions, and pathways
- Elementary positions and movements of Ballet
- Self-awareness
- Teamwork
- Creative expression
- Imagination
- Basic body and health awareness
